Hello, and welcome to the Dannette Kelbley Photography Blog!!
I never thought in my wildest dreams that I would ever start a blog, but here I am sharing part of my personal world with you. Mostly this blog will be used to showcase my clients sessions, but occasionally I will share with you some photography tips and other photography related business. First up though is a little bit on why and how I got into this business and why I love it so very much.
Just a little over two years ago is when this business really started, but at the time I didn’t know that. You see, two years ago my husband was unsuspectingly diagnosed with a mass on his brain. Let me tell you, there is nothing like hearing that news and on top of that we had just come home with our third child four days earlier. Now you might be asking yourself how did this begin your photography business? Like I said at the time I didn’t know it was forming.
Within a few days my husband was scheduled to have a surgery to have the mass removed from his brain. It was scary to say the least. We weren’t sure what to expect and everything was happening so quickly. One day when driving home from an appointment, my husband said to me “I would like to have some family pictures taken before my surgery, you know just in case.” Instantly tears filled my eyes. I myself had thought the same thing, but didn’t want to worry him more then he already was. You see, we didn’t have any family pictures of our family with our new addition or even with our second child. So, I called up a friend and she came over to do a few quick pictures before my husband had to go in for surgery.
This is when my passion for this business began. I always loved taking pictures and wanted to pursue this career, but there was never anything really pushing me. This made me realize that photography is not just pictures, but memories that families get to cherish even when there loved ones are gone

.
Thankfully, my husband is alive and well today. It all turned out well and it just so happens we are overly dramatic people. About four months after my husbands surgery I decided I was being drawn to pursue my true passion of photography and I started up my business in February of 2015. I love creating the memories that people want of their families. The smiles and laughter. I strive to create images that have real interactions, because that is what every family wants to remember. Often times my pictures won’t have everyone looking and smiling at the camera, and that is OK with me because that is not the way your real family is. I strive to capture real interactions. (I still get that shot that everyone wants hung on the wall of the smiling family.)
I can only hope that this gives you a better understanding of why photography is so important to me and why I feel that you should value the pictures of your family as well. Memories that can be hung on your walls, that is my mission and my passion.

Welcome to the world of blogging! I feel like I’m getting to know you already. 🙂
